Looks like all those previous reports stating Xiaomi working on Mi Pad 5 Pro have now received some level of substantiality. Well, we say so because the alleged device has shown up on China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The platform that lists the devices receiving approval of network access license doesn’t directly mention the name of the device, though. It is actually the listed model number “M2105K81C” that is assumed to be belonging to the rumored Mi Pad 5 Pro tablet. The listing also suggests the tablet supports 5G.

The listing presents no other information. However, a tipster on Weibo tries to fill in the gap with the information they know about. The tipster claims, the Mi Pad 5 Pro will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor, while the regular Mi Pad 5 will include the Snapdragon 860 processor.

The tech world first came to know about the presence of the Mi Pad 5 tablets in May this year through the code inside the MIUI 12.5. The tablets appeared inside the code with the codenames ‘nabu,’ ‘enuma,’ and ‘elish,’ possibly, Mi Pad 5, Mi Pad 5 Pro, and the Mi Pad 5 Lite. While the ‘enuma' codename was said to be related to the models supporting voice calls, the ‘elish' and ‘nabu' models were said to come without voice calling support.

Xiaomi is expected to have both 5G and Wi-Fi variants of the Mi Pad 5 models. The Mi Pad 5 Pro is rumored to feature an 11-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and support for a stylus. No details on the vanilla version and the Lite model are available yet, but we expect to hear about them in the coming days.
