On Sunday, T.M. Anbarasan, Minister for rural industries, Tamil Nadu, reviewed the ‘Craft Tourism Village’ that was being established at Mamallapuram.
At a cost of Rs 5.6 crore, the Craft Tourism Village was setup which would bridge the gap between the tourists and sculptors to market their handicraft products in a nice way.
The minister reassessed the beautification of sculptor houses at Karanai village, sculpture workshops on Five Rathas Road and a commemorative plaque on Craft Tourism Village at the entrance of Mamallapuram, which are developed by expending Rs.1.8 crore, as per a recent press release.
To the concerned officials, directions have been given to build these facilities with standards, emphasizing the significance of Mamallapuram and making them attractive for tourists coming from abroad, the release added.
