On Sunday, Congress MP, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, met with the Union tourism minister, G Kishan Reddy, in Delhi and requested him to make sure that sufficient financial assistances are been given for the restoration, renovation and further development of Bhuvanagiri Fort.
In a representation submitted to the union minister, Venkat Reddy, who is the local MP from Bhuvanagiri Lok Sabha constituency, brought to his notice that the state government had planned for a rope way project which has been awaiting the approval for long. For it, tenders were invited but the project did not get any green signal whatsoever.
By mentioning that the fort’s history traces back to 10th century, he had stated at first that it was called Tribhuvanagiri, renamed later as Bhuvanagiri and ultimately it was known as Bhongir Fort. The town of Bhuvanagiri/Bhongir gets its name from this grand fort. It stands tall on a monolithic rock.
