BERHAMPUR: A day after two commandos of the Special Operations Group (SOG) sustained injuries during an encounter with Maoists in Uma jungle, under Kandhamal district’s Gochhapada police station limits, the security forces have intensified operation against the rebels.
“We have intensified the combing operation in the area,” Kandhamal SP Vineet Agrawal said. Police suspect the rebels may be hiding in the dense jungle bordering Kandhamal and Boudh districts. They also suspect that some rebels may have sustained injuries in the gunfight that lasted for about eight hours. “We will give the details of the anti-Maoist operation after the end of the ongoing operation,” Agrawal said.
Meanwhile, the condition of the injured jawans, undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, is said to be stable. DGP Abhay visited AIIMS and enquired about their health condition from the doctors.
