Preparation for Patna Metro intensified, process of land acquisition for rail depot started

An official of the Urban Development and Housing Department said that the technical team has completed the engineering work for two stations at ISBT under Corridor I and Corridor II of PMCH.

In Patna, the capital of Bihar, preparations are progressing in full swing for the Metro Rail. Patna Metro Rail Corporation has started the process of acquisition of land worth Rs 143 crore for the construction of depots at Ranipur and Pahari.

It is likely to be completed in the next 60 days. After the acquisition of 76 acres of land for the ISBT rail depot, the construction work is likely to start from September.

District Land Acquisition Officer Pramod Kumar said that the selection of plots in Ranipur and Pahari has been done on the basis of social impact. Notification for the same will be issued in next 2-3 days after which land acquisition will start on the consent of the villagers. He said the work has been delayed due to the Covid pandemic.

As per the Land Revenue Act 2013, the Bihar government will fix the rate of land to be acquired in Ranipur and Pahari for the construction of IBT Rail Depot. The depot will have two workshops and two inspection bays, eight stabling lines that can accommodate 32 three-coach trains and auto-coach washing plans.

The administrative area will have an auditorium, training school, canteen and operational control center.

An official of the Urban Development and Housing Department said that the technical team has completed the engineering work for two stations at ISBT under Corridor I and Corridor II of PMCH.

The construction work at the two major stations will continue in parallel. According to officials, the two stations, the depot and the casting yard, have been designed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC).

The ISBT and PMCH stations will be spread over three acres each. About 71 acres of land has been acquired for casting yard at Fatuha-Mauja and civil work has started.
