Cycling to ensure 100% vaccination in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: A 50 km cycle rally was organized in the district on Saturday to create awareness on 100% Covid-19 vaccination and encourage cycling as a means of fitness.
Organized by the Nehru Group of Institutions in association with Kovai Pedallers and Rotary Club of Kovaipudur, the rally had more than 100 participants. The rally started around 6.30am from Kovaipudur and concluded at the same place later on the day, covering Sundakkamuthur, Perur, Pachapalayam, Thondamuthur, Alaandhurai, Nallurvayal, Ikkarai Poouvampatti and Siruvani.
The organizers said they had not collected any charges from the participants, while free t-shirts and certificates were given to all the registered participants. The participants wore face mask and helmet throughout the rally.
Listing out the benefits of cycling, P Krishna Kumar, CEO of Nehru Group and president of Kovai Pedallers, said it was a cost-effective exercise, which would benefit people of all ages.
