Medical Admission Fraud: Aspirant loses Rs 12 lakh to conman who promised seat at Calcutta Medical College

Kolkata: Lured by an enticing advertisement offering medical admissions, an aspirant recently lost Rs 12 lakh to a conman who promised to secure him a seat at Calcutta Medical College and Hospital.
The 38-year-old fraudster was nabbed from his rented accommodation and arrested by a team of Jhargram police on Saturday in Lake Town. Police are speculating that the man might be a part of a fake admission racket and thus could be a habitual offender.
A per a recent media report in The Telegraph, modus operandi he used attractive advertisements offering help to aspirants to get a medical seat. A few months ago, the medical aspirant approached the man who promised him to arrange a seat for him at Calcutta Medical College and Hospital. He allegedly took a handsome amount, however, there was no progress regarding the admission.
