While some social media users were quick to ascertain mischief and blame on the company, it turns out that the loss of 'blue tick' happened when the newly appointed minister changed his account name from 'Rajeev_mp' to 'Rajeev_GoI'.

The Rajya Sabha MP has already been verified on his new account.

The following is Chandrasekhar's Twitter account in use.

The MoS has taken charge of the ministry at a time when the government and the US-headquartered micro-blogging platform Twitter seemed to be at loggerheads over the new norms, with the previous IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad publicly blaming Twitter of flouting norms.

The three-time MP was first elected to Rajya Sabha in 2006. He is a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance and the Public Accounts Committee. He was also a member of the Advisory Committee in the Ministry of Information Technology.

Son of an Indian Airforce Commander, Chandrasekhar holds an MS degree in Computer Science.
