Let's talk about the one genre that no one can get enough of—crime dramas. What else can explain the steady stream of gripping books, films, and web series that the genre has produced over the years? Peg its popularity to the fact that we're now looking to the screen for our adrenaline needs or to the sense of escapism it elicits—where we mentally solve on-screen crimes and become heroes in our own right. What's more, there's a subgenre out there for everyone—comedy, supernatural, romantic, erotic, etc. Below, we round up the five crime dramas you can't miss.

1. Lucifer (2016)

What happens when Satan grows jaded from his eternal job? He goes to LA and solves crimes! Here's a series where the original villain, for once, is the hero. When hell gets too mundane for Lucifer Morningstar, he abandons his kingdom, starts an elite club in LA, and moonlights as a consultant for the LAPD. Soon, he discovers his kryptonite in the form of Detective Chloe Decker and that doesn't sit well with the demons who want him to return to hell.
