GANDHINAGAR: Chief minister Vijay Rupani will visit Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur on Sunday evening and preside over the ‘sandhya aarti’ on the eve of the 144th Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath. The yatra will roll out from the temple on Monday. The CM will visit the temple at 6.30pm on Sunday and also hold a meeting with the trustees of the temple and the officials of police and the AMC. The CM will review the preparations, particularly in the context of observing Covid-19 protocols during the procession. Rupani and deputy CM Nitin Patel will lead the ‘Pahind Vidhi’ — the act of drawing the chariots out of the temple compound, on Monday morning. The state government has granted permission for the yatra with a number of restrictions because of the ongoing pandemic.
