Mason held for child's abduction and rape in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A mason was arrested by Jawahar Nagar police on Saturday for allegedly kidnapping and raping a three-and-half year old girl recently at Dammaiguda.
Though the incident took place on July 4, police were clueless about the identity of the offender. As the culprit tried to exploit another girl in the same area on Friday, his luck ran out and landed in police net.
On Friday, police came to know that an unknown man, who went to purchase a cigarette, misbehaved with a girl. When her mother raised an alarm, the accused fled from the location and ran into a forest area. Based on the information given by the girl's mother and other, police verified CCTV footage of nearby areas. They found a person in red shirt and red night pant wearing a mask. The accused was traced based on the mobile phone location. When he was taken into custody, police came to know that he was a mason, a native of Odisha. He is a divorcee and moved to Hyderabad 12 years ago. He also admitted that he left thegirl her near a water tank in an unconscious state.
On further interrogation, he reportedly confessed that he had sexually abused the three-and-half-year-old girl on July 4 too. The accused abducted the victim when she went to a nearby store. A missing complaint was lodged by her parents. The next day, the girl was found near a local water tank in an unconscious condition.
Immediately, the girl was shifted to hospital. Based on the medical report, Jawahar Nagar police had altered the sections and included rape charge besides invoking the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
