Kashi Annapurna Math mahant passes away

Varanasi: The mahant of Kashi Annapurna Math Mandir, Rameshwar Puri passed away at a private hospital in the city on Saturday. He was 67. His mortal remains were taken to the temple for ‘antim darshan’ (public viewing). His last rites will be performed on Sunday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath condoled the demise of the Mahant.
Mahant Rameshwar Puri contracted Covid-19 infection during Haridwar Kumbh and was admitted to a hospital in New Delhi. After recovering, he returned to Varanasi and was residing in the temple.
According to the deputy mahant Shankar Puri, he fell ill again and had been on ventilator for the last 10 days at a hospital in Lucknow.
