GUWAHATI, July 10: Two female babies were born to Covid positive mothers at Diphu Medical College and Hospital on Friday, informed a health official.

The first baby was born to a 22-year HIV+ and Covid positive mother. The baby girl weighing 2.8 kg has tested negative for Covid-19 and is in good health. Her HIV status will be determined after a week, the official said.

A team led by surgeon Dr Manjit Nath, anaesthetist Dr Ferdinand Bongrung, nurse Ritumoni Das and Laxmi Hazarika and technician Pranjit Sharma and Bideswar Doley successfully conducted the operation.

The second baby was born to another Covid positive patient. The weight of the baby girl is 2.9 kg. A team led by Dr Nishita Dutta, Dr PK Sarma (Anaesthesia), Rumi Boro (asst sister) and Rupali Hasnu (scrub sister) conducted the operation.
