MORNING, ARSENAL FANS

Top Gunners’ target Ruben Neves might cost £35million.

Mikel Arteta has made midfield his transfer priority now that left-back Nuno Tavares has arrived for £8m from Benfica to fight for Kieran Tierney’s place.

And Wolves’ Portugal star Neves, as well as Anderlecht’s Belgium star Albert Sambi Lokonga, are among the likeliest recruits.

Granit Xhaka seems bound for Roma while loan hit Dani Ceballos is heading back to Real Madrid.

So Arteta needs not just cover but new first-choice options in the centre.

Meanwhile, Arsenal technical director Edu insists Tavares, 21, is an ideal rival for last season’s star turn Tierney.

He said: “Nuno is a talented young player who was wanted by a number of clubs across Europe.

“He will provide strong back-up in the left-back position.

“We look forward to him growing and developing with us and becoming an important member of the first-team squad.”

Finally, new Crystal Palace boss and Arsenal legend Patrick Vieria is being linked with Gunners’ striker Eddie Nketiah.
