IMD issues heavy rainfall warning for several Telangana districts

HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad has issued a heavy to very heavy warning for a few districts of Telangana from July 11 to July 13 following a low-pressure area forming over Bay of Bengal.
The IMD, Hyderabad has issued orange warning for districts such as Adilabad, Komaram Bheem, Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Mahabubabad, Warangal (rural and urban), Jangaon, Siddipet, Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Suryapet, Yadadri Bhuvangiri and Kamareddy. This level of advisory recommends people to ‘be prepared’ for wet weather conditions as these districts are set to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall.
“A cyclonic circulation lies over coastal Odisha and it’s neighbourhood. Under it’s influence, a low pressure area is likely to be formed on July 11 from west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh - south Odisha coasts. This will trigger heavy to very heavy rains in parts of Telangana,” said Naga Ratna, in-charge director, IMD, Hyderabad.
Fairly widespread rains are expected across Telangana for the next few days. The intensity of rain is likely to subside slightly from July 14.
“In this monsoon season, parts of South India have received varying amounts of rainfall so far. Between June 1 to July 8, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana recorded an ‘excess’ amount of rain at 154.8 mm and 263.5 mm, respectively,” read a weather report issued by Weather Channel, an independent forecasting agency.
