Three held for stealing motorcycles in Navi Mumbai
Navi Mumbai Police on Sunday claimed to have cracked at least nine cases of motorcycle theft by arresting three persons, an officer said.
He told reporters the police seized stolen motorcycles worth Rs 3.20 lakh from the trio.
The motorcycles had been stolen from Koparkhairane, Vashi APMC, Rabale, CBD Belapur and Panvel city.
1 held for supplying drugs to youngsters in Mahim
The Narcotics Control Bureau has conducted a special drive against drugs traffickers in Mumbai's Mahim area and arrested one person who allegedly used to sell contrabands to youngsters, an NCB official said on Sunday.
The drive, led by NCB's zonal director Samir Wankhede, was held late Saturday night following a number of complaints from residents of drug trafficking in the area, he said.
A team of the NCB maintained a vigil in the area and apprehended drug peddler Wasim Shamim Nagor at the Mahim beach and later arrested him, the official said.
Population control imperative to sustain nation's economy, says Sharad Pawar
As Uttar Pradesh released the draft of the proposed population control bill, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday said that the population needs to be controlled so as to sustain the country's economy, healthy living standards and a balanced environment.
His statement in favour of population control shows that the matter is being resonated in other parties as well.
"The message of population control needs to reach far and wide to sustain the nation's economy, gross national income, healthy living standards, and a balanced environment. Every conscious citizen should make a commitment to contribute to population control on the occasion of World Population Day," said Pawar on the occasion of World Population Day.
