Chennai
Valeo and Omega Seiki Mobility have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under which Valeo will provide the electric powertrains for the OSM vehicle range. Valeo is the world leader in automotive electrification technology. The brand is running strong for the last 20 years. It has 8 production sites and employees more than 6000 people in India. On the other hand, Omega is a part of the Anglian Omega Group and has a focus to manufacture steel parts for automotive & engineering industries in India & abroad. The group has become active for the last 5 years and has taken up several projects in infrastructure, automotive, high-technology designs, and development with heavy investment. The group also has an in-house R&D facility that designs and develops its three-wheelers.
It is expected
that Valeo is going to provide its 48V electric powertrain system and the
powertrain Control Unit for the three-wheelers naming “Rage+ and Rage+ Frost”
of Omega Seiki Mobility. Other than this, the engineers of the company will
also provide the technology integration support so that OSM can go to the
market as soon as possible. The two companies will further come together to
bring vehicle models that will be manufactured in India.
Valeo is a
pioneer and world leader in 48V affordable systems. It has a fully integrated
compact 48V electric powertrain system in India so that electrification for
small mobility vehicles like two and three wheelers can be made affordable.
These vehicles are used for first and last-mile connectivity in India.
According to
Jayakumar G, President, Valeo, the company is developing innovative solutions
to reduce CO2 emissions. He also said that OSM will be benefitted because Valeo
will not offer its understanding of electrification technologies but will also
bring with it the need of integrating electric powertrain in the small mobility
format of vehicles. He is positive that the advanced technology and
manufacturing expertise will result in a strong partnership due to which both
the companies can flourish in the rapidly growing segment.
As per Uday
Narang, Chairman, Omega Seiki Mobility, the company is thrilled to come into
partnership with Valeo. This alliance is a perfect match because OSM works to
reduce emissions, provide a sustainable future, offer greener air, and bring
mobility solutions for the generations to come. With this association, the
company can reduce carbon load in the atmosphere and will provide a sustainable
solution for the product line-up, he added. Narang also said that OSM is taking
a holistic approach to come up with innovative technology and also deliver
high-performance vehicles at a decent cost. He also said that this is such a
partnership where the company can share similar ideologies of delivering the
world’s smart technologies and products for green mobility.
Valeo being a
world leader in automotive electrification technology offers both low and
high-voltage solutions for all kinds of vehicles like sedans, SUVs, and two-
and three-wheel urban vehicles. It is also ranked one in the world in the
generation of high-voltage electric vehicles. The company has an electric
powertrain production and manufacturing facility in Pune.
OSM, based in
Faridabad, launched its first electric three-wheeler in 2020. The aim of the
company is to offer mobility solutions in the three-wheeler and two-wheeler
markets. As per Deb Mukherji, MD, OSM, for an electric vehicle, a powertrain is a
very important part. He is happy that due to this partnership, OSM will be able
to provide its customers new generation powertrains that are efficient and use
the latest technologies in electronics, motors, and IoT. At the same time,
these are cost-effective as well. He showed his excitement to introduce a new
range of powertrains in the Indian market with Valeo.
