KVK Imphal celebrates '21st National Fish Farmers Day'

KVK, Andro, Imphal East celebrated the 21st National Fish Farmers Day at its Office Training Fall, today.
The programme emphasized on the theme “Ecosystem Management for Sustainable Fisheries”, said a statement of KVK, Imphal East.
The occasion was graced by Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal and S Molibala Devi, Sr Scientist & Head, KVK, Andro, IE.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Ranjit Sharma emphasised the sustainable harnessing of fisheries resources through technology infusion and best farming practices while highlighting the importance of quality seed, feed, species diversification, entrepreneurial models and marketing infrastructure with backward and forward linkages.
S Molibala Devi said that providing 'Quality Seed' of fish is very important in enhancing production and productivity.
A total of 20 fish farmers from different villages of Imphal East District attended the programme and 5000 numbers of 'Fingerling' was also distributed to the participants.
During this programme, M A Salam, SMS, Fisheries briefed the fish farmers on the importance of Ecosystem Management for Sustainable Fisheries and also stressed the importance of development of the fisheries sector in doubling the farm income by 2022.Later, 'Farmers-Scientist interaction programme' was also conducted with KVK Scientist.
