JAIPUR: Scattered rain was witnessed in some parts of eastern Rajasthan on Saturday. Though the Jaipur Met office had predicted the progress of monsoon towards eastern Rajasthan, widespread rainfall was elusive.
In Jaipur, mild to moderate showers in scattered form was witnessed at Malviya Nagar, Jagatpura and Sanganer. “It was expected that south west monsoon will enter at many districts in the eastern Rajasthan, however its progress seen on Saturday was not very good. Widespread activity actually kicks off the monsoon which was not seen,” said Radhey Shyam Sharma, Director Jaipur Met office.
Mild to moderate showers were also been witnessed at Dausa, Bassi, Tunga, Kanota, Dudu and other areas yet widespread activity was not seen.
“This year there has been the longest monsoon break. Usually after the entry of monsoon it covers the entire state within seven days. However, this year so far the break has sustained for more than 19 days so far,” he added. In the absence of good rainfall activity, majority of the places witnessed higher humidity levels. “In the coming days there is no forecast of heavy rainfall in Rajasthan,” said an officer with Jaipur Met office.
