INDORE: MP tourism minister Usha Thakur on Saturday said the state has freed 70 bighas “encroached by missionaries” in Mhow.
“They had expanded their boundaries and erected a Cross in Khurda area,” Thakur said at a press conference, adding that an anganwadi, a cow shelter and a women’s selfhelp group are being set up there now. The minister said strong laws have been put in place in the state to stop religious conversion. “Religious conversion is equivalent to converting the nation. Such nasty incidents will not be allowed,” she said.
Indore Diocese Bishop Dr Chacko Thottumarickal said, “I'm unaware of any illegal land procurement in Khurda. There is no conversion taking place.”
