Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The list that Gandhi Medical College (GMC) issued containing the names of nurses for time scale pay, has missed the names of 40 nurses. This has irked the nurses of Hamidia Hospital. On Monday, a delegation will meet GMC dean Dr Jitendra Shukla on this issue. However, the MP Nurses’ Association called it a “clerical error”, but assured that they would meet the dean of GMC, as well as the medical superintendent of Hamidia Hospital on Monday and will get the anomaly rectified.
District president of the MP Nurses’ Association Kanchana Khaterkar said, “We’ll meet the medical superintendent, as well as the dean of Medical College and get the clerical error rectified. We were united throughout the agitation and we’re still united. We’ve given time for two months to the government to consider our 7-point charter of demands.”
After the high court’s instructions, the nurses had joined duty giving the state government two months to consider their 7-point charter of demands. There are 25,000 nurses working with the department of medical education (DME) and they went on strike in the state.
The main demands include second grade pay, which is given to nurses of other states; three and four increments; abolition of the age limit for higher education; amendment of the recruitment rules; that transfer on deputation be started; pension scheme be introduced; NPS be restored; regularisation of nurses recruited during pandemic times; designation of nursing officers for nurses; and honorarium at the collector rate be given to students of nursing colleges.
