Lakhs of central government employees and pensioners are waiting for the increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR). According to a report published in Zee News, the DA for January 2021 and July 2021 will be announced in September and the dearness allowance is likely to increase from 17 percent to 31 percent.
How much will the monthly salary increase?
It has been said in the report that the monthly salary may increase from Rs 3000 to Rs 30,000. However, after the restoration of DA, the increase in monthly salary will depend on the pay scale of the employees.
DA will be 31%
At present, under the 7th Pay Commission, central employees get 17% dearness allowance. When the DA hike of the last three installments will be restored, then it will become 28%. DA was increased by 4 percent in January 2020, followed by 3 percent increase in the second half i.e. July 2020 and it has increased by 4 in January 2021. Now, if it will increase by 3 percent even in July 2021, then the central employees will get 31 percent (17+4+3+4+3) from September.
Government can spend 30,000 crore
According to Zee News, the central government can spend Rs 30,000 crore for the increase in DA, DR in the financial year 2022. Similarly, about Rs 60,000 crore is expected to be spent on the states as well. The basic salary of central employees and pensioners starts from Rs 23,000 to a maximum of Rs 2.25 lakh. It is expected that the government will increase DA, DR before the festive season so that consumption also increases.
When will the DA, DR be restored?
As per the report, the increase in DA, DR will be considered effective from July 1 and its payment will be made before Dussehra (October 15), in which two months arrears will also be included. If this happens, a hefty amount will come in the hands of the central government employees before the festival.
