HYDERABAD: With some districts bordering Andhra Pradesh still reporting Covid-19 cases, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday directed medical and
health department officials to conduct a fever survey once again in those areas.
He said a team of senior officials led by health department secretary should visit Nagarjuna Sagar,
Miryalaguda, Nakrekal, Suryapet, Khammam,
Dornakal, Huzurabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Bellampalli, Godavarikhani, Sircilla and Warangal for three days on a chopper from July 11. Asking the officials to submit a report to the cabinet after their tour, he said Covid-19 cases in some districts have not come under control yet.
“The officials should conduct a scientific study and critically analyse the reasons for the spread of Covid-19 cases in those areas. A special scientific action plan needs to be prepared after studying the ground-level situation in these districts. They should also hold a meeting with district collectors, panchayat and medical officers, municipal commissioners and hospital superintendents,”
KCR said while reviewing Covid-19 cases with health officials at Pragati Bhavan.
The CM said the health department bosses should constantly review the performance of their officers and availability of medicines, oxygen supplies and beds.
“With the reports of a third wave, medical and health department officials should be on a high alert. We should be well prepared to face any eventuality,” he said. He said a study should be done on coronavirus situation and what measures were taken to curtail it in West Bengal, Delhi and Maharashtra.
Enforcement of Covid-19 control measures like wearing of mask and social distancing should be strict, the CM said and urged people to observe self-restraint and follow the Covid-19 guidelines and cooperate with the government.
The CM instructed the officials to take steps to make Warangal a ‘health city’. He inquired about the multi-superspecialty hospital coming up in Warangal.
