KOKRAJHAR, July 9: Noted social activist and former leader of Koch-Rajbongshi Sahitya Sabha Ashok Kumar Singha passed away on Thursday evening at GMCH in Guwahati due to post Covid complications. According to his family members, Singha, a retired government employee, was admitted to GMCH following his illness owing to post Covid complications. He was 65. He left behind his sons, daughters, and a host of relatives.
Born in the prestigious Singha family of Chapar area in the district of Dhubri, Ashok served as a government employee for a long time. He also held the office of the president of Kokrajhar district Koch-Rajbongshi Sahitya Sabha from 2008 to 2011. He had also been an active worker of Asom Sahitya Sabha and other socio-cultural and literary organisations of the region.
Koch-Rajbongshi Cultural Society, AKRSU Kokrajhar district unit, various socio-cultural organisations in and around the Kokrajhar town mourned his sad demise. Secretary of Koch Rajbongshi Cultural Society Deepunjay Barman extended condolences over Singha’s sudden death. “The society lost a great social worker. With his demise, it is the end of a popular leader, in the field of culture and literature,” added Barman.
