HYDERABAD: A mother killed her two daughters before she committed suicide in
Choutuppal on Thursday. Her third daughter,3, had a lucky escape. Husband's alleged harassment could be the motive behind her extreme step.
Police said that
T Umarani,32, and her daughter
Harshini,12, and
Lasya,8, died whereas
Shainy,3, was rescued by the locals.
Umarani used two different sarees to execute her plan. Both the sarees were inserted through two different fan hooks. Harshini and Lasya were found tied to two ends of a saree, which was hanging from the ceiling. Similarly, the other saree tied to another hook, Umarani was found hanging to one end and Shainy to the other end.
Shainy was alive but struggling for her life by taking support of a loft. On hearing her loud cry, some locals came to their house.
Realising that she is struggling for her life, they went on top of the roof and broke the asbestos sheet and saved Shainy. By this time the remaining three persons died. Umarani’s husband
Venkatesh, a labour, was sleeping outside their house, when the suicide pact took place.
Police suspect that since Venkatesh used to allegedly harass Umarani by coming in drunken condition, Umarani might have taken the extreme step by first killing her daughters and then she herself taking the extreme suicide.
