TikTok is a social video-sharing platform, mainly popular for short yet engaging/entertaining videos. It is now expanding to cover some of the serious stuff and has announced TikTok Resumes. It is an attempt to help users on the platform apply for jobs by making videos and sharing those video resumes with employers.
TikTok Resumes has currently been announced only for users from the United States. The company has teamed up with various brands like Chipotle, Target, WWE, Alo Yoga, Shopify, Contra, and Movers+Shakers. The available positions are spread across a different range of experience levels including entry-level and experienced jobs. Each listing comes with a description of the brand as well as the job profile, similar to what you would see on job-seeking platforms like LinkedIn.
If you are interested in applying for one of those jobs, you can do so by posting a video resume on TikTok and using the hashtag "#TikTokResumes". Alternatively, there is also a dedicated website for TikTok Resumes that can be used to check all the job listings and apply for the ones that suit your profile.
It should be noted that TikTok Resumes is only a pilot program for the time being. The deadline for applying to available jobs on the platform is July 31st. It is unknown whether the team will bring more listing beyond the last date or will stop the functionality altogether.
Nick Tran, Global Head of Marketing at TikTok said:
"TikTok Resumes is officially open and accepting TikTok video resumes. We’re humbled to be able to partner with some of the world’s most admired and emerging brands as we pilot a new way for job seekers to showcase their experiences and skillsets in creative and authentic ways. #CareerTok is already a thriving subculture on the platform and we can’t wait to see how the community embraces TikTok Resumes and helps to reimagine recruiting and job discovery.”
