Hamirpur (HP), Jul 8 (UNI) The elevation of the local MP, Anurag Thakur from the post of Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate affairs to cabinet Minister-in-charge, Information-cum broadcasting, and Youth welfare and sports in Modi cabinet has been hailed as a welcome step for the state polity and Modi's commitment to induct youngsters.
This is because of the reason that another Rajya Sabha MP from the state, JP Nadda is also the All India President of the BJP, and by making Anurag as the cabinet minister, the Prime Minister has shown that he has great love and affection for the people of the state where he had worked as the party’s organization-in-charge when PK Dhumal was the state BJP chief, sources said.
Moreover, by bringing a young man into his cabinet, the Prime Minister has shown that he had full faith in the abilities of the young force so that they are trained for taking reins of the nation/states in the future, they said.
Incidentally, this step has been taken at a time when the party is working on its Mission-2022 to retain the party government in the state through the coming Vidhan Sabha elections.
The four timers MP from Hamirpur aged forty-six and half years old is well known for his interest in the sports and the youth welfare activities and perhaps keeping in view his interest in the sports and media activities, the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi awarded him two youth-related departments to showcase his talent.
Son of the former HP Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, Prem Kumar Dhumal, Junior Dhumal who preferred to be called Thakur is likely to create a sports-related environment in various parts of India in general and HP in particular. He had already set up two big cricket stadiums at Dharamshala in Kangra and Nadaun in Hamirpur districts respectively. While world-class matches were used to be held at Dharamshala stadium, the Nadaun stadium known after the former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee is holding national-level matches and credit for that goes to Thakur only.
While the common man is happy with the elevation of Anurag Thakur as a cabinet minister, his own father, PK Dhumal is optimistic that his won will come up to the aspirations of the people of India and work according to their wishes.
Dhumal has thanked Prime Minister for posing faith in Anurag Thakur for the second time during the last two years, firstly when he was made the Minister of state and now the cabinet minister.
Meanwhile, the people of the state in general and the BJP people, in particular, are hopeful that Anurag Thakur and the Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur would work in unison for the upliftment of the state and to take the party to the heights so that the Congress was not able to create its dent in the state anymore.
One of the top Congress party leaders of the state on anonymity told UNI today that by making Anurag Thakur as the Union cabinet minister, the Prime Minister had killed two birds with one stone.
He said through this way, the prime Minister had given a lesson to the BJP leaders and the Congress party both not to become so passive that another force takes advantage and eventually the reigns of the state.
Meanwhile, people of the state especially that of the Hamirpur Parliamentary constituency are eager to meet their own leader and to greet him in a befitting manner for getting such a prestigious post that no one from Hamirpur's seat could get earlier.
