Mumbai, Maharashtra
Okaya Power
Group, the energy storage solutions provider, has announced its entry into the
electric two-wheeler business with the launch of electric scooters. The company
has also announced plans to set up three new two-wheeler manufacturing plants
in Neemrana (Rajasthan) by 2023-25.
Okaya EV
launched two variants – AvionIQ series and ClassIQ series. The scooters are
equipped with the required technologies to manage the increasing volatility of
Indian power conditions. The electric two-wheelers will be available across the
country in a price range of Rs 39,999 to Rs 60,000.
The company will
also be setting up two experience centres in Delhi and Jaipur.
Okaya EV
believes that battery, electronics and software are essential for e-scooters. Okaya addresses the lack of
availability of good quality spares and services, proper infrastructure and
finances, and the petrol scooter background of the entrants.
The company
already has a two-wheeler manufacturing plant in Baddi (Himachal Pradesh) and
will start another facility in Haryana.
Okaya has been present
in battery manufacturing for over three decades combining Microtek’s
electronics excellence of 35 years and Okaya Infocom’s software experience of
19 years. It has been supplying EV batteries since 2016-17; EV chargers and
charging stations since 2019, making it a key player in India's mission to
create EV charging infrastructure.
