The outlook reflects our view that the financial performance of Indian airlines is likely to remain weak in the near-to-medium term amid weak air traffic, following continued restriction on international travel and subdued demand for domestic travel, owing to the sharp rise in infections.

Notwithstanding the improving pace of vaccination, the measures taken to curb the rising infections continue to weigh on the recovery prospects of Indian carriers.

Furthermore, the credit profile of most Indian carriers continues to be characterised by a weak liquidity position.
