Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Jul 8 (UNI) Rajya Sabha MP and BJP vice-president, Dr Bhagwat Karad on Thursday took charge as Minister of State in the Union Ministry of Finance in North Block in New Delhi.
On the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr Karad went to his office at the North Block in afternoon at 1300 hours and took charge of the Finance portfolio.
There, senior officials briefed Dr Karad in detail about the day-to-day functioning of the Ministry of Finance, the important department, and also the schemes being implemented by it.
At present, the country's economy is improving rapidly and the growth rate is expected to increase in the coming years, he was quoted as saying in an official release issued here.
"Aurangabad had not yet got a Union Ministerial post. Therefore, I am committed to the overall development of Aurangabad and Marathwada. Citizens also have high expectations from him," he added.
Since Marathwada is a backward region, there is a huge desire of the people that the big work in infrastructure and human development index will be done by Dr Karad.
