As the news hit social media that legendary actor Dilip Kumar, who had been suffering from several age-related issues died at age 98 in Mumbai on July 7, the whole country came together to mourn the massive loss. He died of bilateral pleural effusion after being hospitalised twice in a month. The news of his death sent shockwaves not just in the country but as far as Pakistan. Dilip Kumar, for the unversed, was born at his family home in the Qissa Khawani Bazaar area of Peshawar in British India. Now, mourning his demise, fans and cinema lovers in Pakistan's Peshawar offered a Ghaibana Namaz-e-Janaza to the late actor and lit candles in his memory. They also offered a Fateha to celebrate the superstar. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan also mourned the loss of the icon as he took to Twitter and wrote, 'Saddened to learn of Dilip Kumar's passing. I can never forget his generosity in giving his time to help raise funds for SKMTH when project launched. This is the most difficult time - to raise first 10% of the funds & his appearance in Pak & London helped raise huge amounts.' 'Apart from this, for my generation Dilip Kumar was the greatest and most versatile actor', Khan added. Born Mohammad Yusuf Khan, Kumar often recalled memories of his time at his ancestral home in Pakistan. On several occasions, he had even opened up about how vividly he remembered his home. 'My mother who was frail and delicate was always in the spacious kitchen of the house and as a little boy I would wait for her to finish her chores so that I could just sit by her side and gaze at her beautiful face,' he had said. In 1998, the Pakistan government honoured the 'Tragedy King of Bollywood' with the 'Nishan-e-Imtiaz' award. It is Pakistan's highest civilian award. Apart from this, the government has already declared Dilip Kumar's home as a national heritage, along with Raj Kapoor's house. His ancestral home is also being turned into a museum.
