The flight services to Maldives will resume from next week, July 15, 2021. The island nation is reopening its international borders to South Asian countries including India. Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had said that the government will review the COVID-19 pandemic situation periodically between July 1 and 15.
If you are planning to fly to Maldives, then here’s all you need to know:
Entry requirements
- International passengers are required to have a negative RT-PCR test report before entering the island nation.
- On the Maldives immigration portal, a health declaration form should be filled by the travellers 24 hours prior to the departure.
- No mandatory quarantine or test on arrival.
- A PCR test is a must if someone shows COVID-19 symptoms.
- To enter Maldives, Indian nationals tourists are not required any pre-arrival visa, just a valid passport is enough.
- The passport of Indians must have at least 1-month validity from the date of expected departure in the Maldives.
- A confirmed pre-booking at a registered tourist facility is essential for the visa.
- Tourist visa extension facility is also available for long-stay tourists without the imposition of any further fees.
Flight Schedule
From India, Go First, which was GoAir before, from July 15 will be operating flights from Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai to Malé. On Thursdays and Sundays the flight will be available. Then from August 4, on Wednesdays and Saturdays more flights will be operational. If the situation becomes conducive, then from September 3, flights between the two countries will operate daily.
From Delhi, at 9:50 AM flights for Malé will leave, and land in the afternoon at 1:20 PM. The return leg will leave Malé at 2:35 PM, and land at 7:05 PM in Delhi. From Mumbai, the flights will land at 12:05 PM at Malé Airport, and at 1:05 PM from Bengaluru.
Also, the direct flights for Malé will be operated by IndiGo from Mumbai, Kochi and Bengaluru. From Kochi and Bengaluru, flights will be available on Thursdays from July 15 onwards. Notably, the flights from Mumbai will be available twice a week on Fridays and Saturdays will begin from July 16, then daily from July 20. All these flights will land in Malé between 1 PM and 4 PM.
