Four medical oxygen generators installed in Tamil Nadu hospitals
In an attempt to tackle oxygen shortage that might occur if Covid-19 third wave sweeps Tamil Nadu, MVS Engineering is installing four medical oxygen plants in three hospitals in the state. The oxygen plants based on pressure swing adsorption (PSA) technology are funded by Thirumalai Chemicals, Thirumalai Charity trust and some other companies, said MVS Engineering Pvt Ltd. Last month, hospitals in Tamil Nadu reported oxygen shortage as large number of people affected by the coronavirus got admitted. "With Christian Medical College in Tamil Nadu already running successfully one of our plants since the first wave and two more oxygen plants supplied to them recently," said Siddharth Rastogi, VP Sales & Marketing. The other two oxygen generators are installed at Voluntary Health Services Multi-Specialty Hospital and Research Institute and Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital both located here. (IANS)

Indian Railways to lease seven land parcels in Chennai for commercial development
Indian Railways statutory body Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) is in the process of inviting online bids for leasing seven land parcels for commercial development in Chennai, as the city has emerged as a realty hub with the growth of the IT sector in the past few years. Apart from inviting bids for the land parcels, a request for proposal (RFP) for the redevelopment of the Egmore railway colony will also be invited soon. According to Rail Land Development Authority, out of the seven identified land parcels, three parcels are situated at the Ayanavaram site and the bid opening date for those three is set as August 24, 2021. The fourth land parcel is at the Waltax road site which spans across an area of 1,116.67 square metres and the reserve price of the site is kept at Rs 4.19 crore for a lease period of 45 years. The last date of e-bid submission for the Waltax road site land parcel is set as August 12, 2021. (ANI)

Chennai Metro rail operation hours extended as footfalls up
Chennai Metro Rail Limited has extended its train timings and also increased peak hour services. From Thursday, metro trains will operate from 5.30am to 9pm, and peak hours will be from 8am to 11am and from 5pm to 8pm. Trains will be available every 10 minutes during non-peak hours and every five minutes during peak hours.
Police recover missing man’s body from well in Tamil Nadu
The body of a 33-yearold missing man was recovered from a well in Chengalpet on Wednesday. Police said the man was allegedly murdered by a seven-member gang over an illicit affair in the district.
