Active cases of Covid-19 in India rose, albeit marginally, for the first time since May 13, at a time the country's healthcare system is assessing the impact of the Delta-Plus variant.

Nearly 46,000 people tested positive for the deadly pathogen in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on July 8. Daily recoveries dropped to 44,000, taking active infections higher to 4.6 lakh.
