Eastern Railway reported over 36 pc growth in freight loading and profit over 57 pc in Q1 21

Kolkata, Jul 8 (UNI) Eastern Railway reported a growth of 36.12 per
cent in freight loading in quarter 1, (April-June 2021)
ferried 18.54 million tonnes, compared to 13.62 mt in the corresponding
period of last year.
With record loading of freight for the first three months of this
fiscal, the earnings of Eastern Railway
also went up to Rs 1433.84 crore, as against Rs 912.28 crore for the
same period last year.
The earning graph percentage also registered a growth of 57.17 per cent.
The major commodities loaded were coal, steel, cement, stone and containers.
The above freight loading performance of Eastern Railway denoted its sincere commitment to maintain backend supply chain effectively and to dispatch freight commodities in different
parts of the country faster to suit the growth of the national economy during the prevailing pandemic crisis.
