Two more drug peddlers said to be of Nigerian origin landed into the custody of the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police after they were found to be in possession of cocaine worth more than Rs. 35 lakh.
Acting on a tip-off a team led by Police Inspector- Devidas Handore under the instructions of DCP (Crime)- Dr. Mahesh Patil swooped down on two flats in the Hatkesh area and Kashimira and caught hold of the suspects. Upon searching the flats, the police recovered 238 grams of cocaine which has an estimated price tag of Rs. 35.70 lakh.
Notably, three Nigerian nationals were arrested with cocaine worth more than Rs. 25 lakh from the same area last week.
An offence under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 has been registered against the duo at the Kashimira police station. Police Inspector- Vijay Pawar is conducting further investigations.
After moving to the nearby Nallasopara-Virar belt, anti-social elements of foreign origin who are involved in drug trade and cyber crime have started making a comeback by razing their heads in some residential pockets of Kashimira.
