To make the lush cushions, Shella started by cutting the tassels off the mats then positioned the mats in a 'T' shape on the floor with the fluffy side down.

Using a drawstring needle and thread, the seams were sewn at the top of the 'T' where the mats touched.

The opposite end of the single mat was then folded and sewn to the corresponding side.

The formation was then turned inside out and the pillows were inserted before the seams were closed.

'Start by sewing up from the corner then the bottom,' Stella said in a YouTube video.

The two large rectangular pillows should fit perfectly inside and create a luxurious but budget-friendly cushion.

After sharing the results and step-by-step instructions on social media, Shella was praised by other DIY enthusiasts around the country.

'Absolutely gorgeous lovely, well done,' one person wrote on Instagra,

'Oh wow this is amazing!' another said.

A third added: 'That's clever! I saw someone use Adairs mats on Facebook, I wish I were good at sewing.'
