Dilip Kumar passed away at the age of 98 on Wednesday morning, due to age related issues. He is survived by his wife Saira Banu.
In the pictures from the funeral, SRK was seen consoling Kumar's wife Saira Banu.
For the unversed, Shah Rukh had a close bond with legendary actor Dilip Kumar.
Shah Rukh Khan starred in the remake of Dilip Kumar's iconic film 'Devdaas'. The Bollywood stars also shared the top spot for most Filmfare awards for Best Actor.
After winning his first ever Filmfare Award in the main category of the lead actor for 'Daag', Dilip Kumar won the prestigious award several times and till date continues to hold the record for the maximum Filmfare wins with his eight Black Lady trophies. He shared the position with superstar Shah Rukh Khan who also has eight Filmfare Awards to his credit.
However, beyond the professional similarities, Dilip Kumar and Shah Rukh also had a personal connection.
According to a BBC report from 2012, Dilip Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan's father Taj Mohammad Khan were both born and raised in Peshawar.
In 2013, Filmfare quoted the 'Kal Ho Na Ho' actor as saying, "My relationship with Dilip sahab goes beyond films. Dilip sahab and Sairaji have always thought of me as their son."
Dilip's wife Saira Banu, in an interview with Mumbai Mirror, had also expressed her love for SRK.
"I have always said that if we had a son, he might have looked like Shah Rukh... Both he and saab are a lot alike and have similar hair, which is why I like to run my fingers through Shah Rukh Khan when we meet," she had said.
In 2015, when Kumar was conferred with Padma Vibhushan Award, Khan had said, “Dilip sahab is more deserving than anybody else. Even words like icon are very less for him. He is the forefather, the pillar of the film industry, amongst the last few pillars left. I think what he has received is befitting."
He added, “No matter how many awards he receives, it will be less for him because of his art, beauty and Sairaji’s support. He is one of the greatest human beings apart from being a great actor. I know them personally, so I can say that. It’s a moment of big celebration and recognition."

In 2017, Shah Rukh told a magazine, "I had heard a lot that I looked like Dilip Sahab but I was never convinced until I watched Dilip Kumar sahab’s film in his youth at Ketan Mehta’s office and began rubbing my eyes when Ketan informed me it was Dilip Kumar sahab’s image!"
Earlier, during an event for his film 'Devdas', Shah Rukh Khan had said, "My mother always thought that I looked like Mr Dilip Kumar."
Over the last few years, Shah Rukh often visited the legendary actor's Bandra residence to meet Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu.
