India Tour of Sri Lanka: Devdutt Padikkal birthday celebrations, entire team sings for him, check out: Team India on Tuesday celebrated Devdutt Padikkal’s birthday via a special cake cutting ceremony and singing a song for the promising youngster ahead of the limited-overs series in Sri Lanka. Sharing a clip, BCCI wrote, “2 birthdays- MS Dhoni and Padikkal, 1 celebration, heartfelt message from Padikkal to Dhoni”

All set to make his debut during Sri Lanka series, Devdutt Padikkal is in sublime touch. Not only had he proved his worth in domestic cricket but in the IPL too. Hence, ahead of his debut, BCCI shared glimpses of his talent international cricket will witness, won his birthday. Padkikkal is with Shikhar Dhawan-led Team India for 3 ODIs and as many T20Is series against Sri Lanka.

The post captioned “SOUND ON! the 30-second clip of the birthday boy timing the ball to perfection in the nets. Happy birthday, @devdpd07! #TeamIndia #SLvIND,” the post said.

The video showed the 21-year-old Indian cricketer showcasing a variety of shots from his bat. Right from drives cruising through ‘point,’ ‘covers’, and even ‘straight drives,’ Padikkal also showcased solid defence and lofted shots with utmost finesse.

The apex governing body of cricket in India has put across a dynamic poster earlier during the day to greet Padikkal on his birthday. The post captioned “Birthday boy all smiles. Happy Birthday Devdutt Padilkkal #TeamIndia.

Padikkal’s birthday coincides with India’s legendary cricketer MS Dhoni, who was also the captain for Men in Blue.

The swashbuckling left-handed batsman received his maiden call for Team India when the selectors announced India’s 20-men-squad for the limited-over series against Sri Lanka. He, along with three other players- Nitish Rana, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Chetan Sakariya received his maiden call-up following impressive performances in India’s domestic limited-overs tournaments.

The Indian batsman made the headlines for his excellent batting performance in IPL 2020 and phase 1 of IPL 2021. He mustered 473 runs (15 matches) and emerged as the highest run-scorer for Bangalore in 2020.

Besides, in the 2021 edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy season, Devdutt Padikkal amassed 737 runs and finished second on the highest scorer list of the season. He was seen in blazing touch in the disaster struck IPL 2021 where he smashed 195 runs across the 6 matches he played.
