Inside issue 288 of evo

The latest issue of evo is on sale now, with the new issue packed with all the best automotive content to lose yourself in. Highlighted with an all-new Lotus, three dream-worthy secondhand V8s and lots more, here’s the inside look at the issue, on shelves now!

We start with the all-new Lotus Emira – the first new Lotus in over a decade, and the one that doesn’t just signal the beginning of Lotus’s new era, but also represents a high point of pure combustion sports cars in the form we know and love. This month, Stuart Gallagher went behind the scenes to uncover where, when and crucially how the new Emira will act as a guardian of the traditional sports car, and the path that lays ahead for this most auspicious of motoring dynasties.

Also in this issue, our cover story follows three secondhand V8 superheroes that have been bought by family and friends of evo. We explore why and how they did so, and what inspired them to make the decision to take the plunge in the first place.

There’s also the first instalment of our 2021 hot hatchback reckoning, with the first of three tests to define the best of their respective subculture. First up, it’s the big boys, with the A45 S taking on a £50k Golf R and the current hot hatchback champion, Honda’s Civic Type R. Held on challenging roads that will test even the most capable of sports cars, two of the contenders showed real class, where one truly faltered. Which one lost the plot? You’ll have to grab the issue to find out…

There’s much more to come too, with Dickie Meaden’s drive of a hot-rod Range Rover of classical demeanor, the ‘other’ Porsche 911 restomod that isn’t from California, a twin test between two of the most intense open top supercars currently on sale, plus our usual roster of regulars including the ruminations of our esteemed columnists, a catch up with our fast fleet and a first drive of this month’s most interesting new performance cars.

So make sure to run out and grab your copy now if you’re not already a subscriber, or click here to buy the latest issue online via our new online store!
