Nationals activate RHP Fedde to start vs. Padres

Washington Nationals right-hander Erick Fedde was activated from the 10-day injured list to start Tuesday night's road game against the San Diego Padres.

Fedde (4-4, 3.90 ERA) was on the IL due to an oblique injury.

Fedde, 28, last pitched on June 23 when he gave up five runs and six hits over four innings against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Washington also activated right-hander Kyle Finnegan (hamstring) from the injured list and optioned left-hander Kyle Lobstein and right-hander Ryne Harper to Triple-A Rochester.

Finnegan, 29, was 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA in 33 relief appearances prior to the injury.

Lobstein, 31, had a 20.25 ERA in three appearances for the Nationals, while the 32-year-old Harper had an 0.93 ERA in eight appearances.

Also, Washington manager Dave Martinez said right-hander Stephen Strasburg is "close" to going on a minor league rehab stint. Strasburg has been on the injured list since June 2 due to a neck injury.
