Prime Minister Narendra Modi As many as 43 leaders will take oath as Cabinet ministers today, news agency ANI has confirmed. Some of the names in the list include Jyotiraditya Scindia, Pashupati Kumar Paras, Bhupender Yadav, Anupriya Patel, Shobha Karandlaje, Meenakshi Lekhi, Ajay Bhatt, and Anurag Thakur.
The much-awaited Cabinet reshuffle will be held in just a few hours from now at 6 PM. After the official announcement, the newly elected Cabinet members will take part in a swearing-in ceremony at Durbar Hall in Rashtrapati Bhavan. In a big decision before the rejig, the Centre also shifted governors of eight states today.

The Congress says the exercise is not driven by performance or governance but meant for "distribution of the spoils of power" and "adjustment" of defectors. Surjewala said if the cabinet expansion is to be done on the basis of performance, then the prime minister should have been the first one to be removed for his failures in providing governance. Considering the Assembly polls in India's largest state UP next year, the Modi Cabinet has decided to induct seven leaders from the state. The names of these leaders are Kaushal Kishore, SP Baghel, Pankaj Choudhary, BL Verma, Ajay Mishra, Bhanu Pratap Verma and Apna Dal's Anupriya Patel.

Congress member of Parliament and senior leader Mallikarjun Kharge, while reacting to the Cabinet expansion, has said several dalits, and backward caste members are being made ministers. "They are doing it from the point of polls. This is being done to distract people. They are not doing this for welfare of communities but because of their compulsion," he told news agency ANI.
