Velodyne opens India Design Centre in Bengaluru

The US-based Velodyne Lidar Inc has opened a new India Design Centre in Bengaluru. Parthasarathy Narasimhan has joined Velodyne as Vice President of Engineering and Managing Director of the India Design Centre to lead it.

The centre will do research and development (R&D) and work towards expanding Velodyne’s growth strategy. It will drive innovation in lidar sensor and software solutions that help to transform lives by advancing safe mobility and smart communities in global markets. Additionally, the India Design Centre will nurture customer and partner opportunities for lidar-based solutions in automotive and new mobility.

Velodyne’s California-based engineering team will collaborate with the India Design Centre in leading-edge R&D to build customer-focused solutions. The company also looks to cooperate with other automotive development centres in India.

The company will recruit from the rich talent ecosystem that is available in Bengaluru. Velodyne is on the lookout for engineering talent and expertise in hardware, FPGA, embedded software, board design, systems engineering, ASIC, perception software, functional safety, cybersecurity and other adjacent areas. The team will develop automotive-grade products that can meet customer needs worldwide.
