Britney Spears' co-conservator has shared texts from the singer asking for her to remain on in her role and help her get a new attorney as he asks for an additional $25,000 from her estate to pay for her new security guard.
Jodi Montgomery was appointed in 2019 to be Britney's Conservator of Person. It's her role in the Conservatorship to approve medical and personal decisions. Britney's father, Jamie, is in charge of her finances.
Britney said in court on June 23 that she didn't know she could request end the conservatorship at all. Since then, her attorney, Sam Ingham, has resigned.
In texts sent in between those two events, she told Montgomery: 'I need u to stay as my co conservator of person. I'm asking u for ur assistance in getting a new attorney. Thank u for ur help.'
Montgomery included the texts in a petition to the court on Wednesday asking the judge to compel Jamie Spears to approve payment of $25,480 to pay for her new security guard.
She says she needs 24.7 security now because of how much attention the case has received, and that she's received violent threats.

Jodi Montgomery's attorney presented texts to the court on Wednesday that are from Britney asking her to remain her co conservator until she gets a new attorney. The texts are from Friday July 2

Jodi Montgomery was appointed as Britney's co-conservator of person in 2019. She is in charge of her personal decisions and has always maintained - through her attorney - that she acts in Britney's best interests. She is refusing to step down in light of the private conversations she says she has with Britney
'Since the hearing, which was illegally broadcasted and replayed to an incredibly wide audience, there has been a marked increase in the number and severity of threatening posts about Petitioner on all social media platforms as well as text messages, phone calls, and emails directed to [her] personally.'
Her attorney went on: 'While Ms. Spears expressed her displeasure with her conservatorship at the hearing, she has informed [Jodi Montgomery] that she would like her to stay on as her conservator. Attached is a true and correct copy of a text message between [Montgomery] and Ms Spears.'
The texts were from Friday July 2. Montgomery's responses to Britney are not shown.
In a statement on Tuesday, after Britney's attorney stepped down, Montgomery's attorney issued a statement saying she would remain on as Conservator of Person 'for as long as' Britney wanted her to.
'Ms. Montgomery has no plans to step down as Ms. Spears’ Temporary Conservator of the Person. She remains committed to steadfastly supporting Ms. Spears in every way she can within the scope of her duties as a conservator of the person.
'Ms. Spears as recently as yesterday has asked Ms. Montgomery to continue to serve.
'Ms. Montgomery will continue to serve as a conservator for as long as Ms. Spears and the Court desire her to do so,' her attorney Lauriann Wright said.
It's unclear if she intends to step down once Britney has a new lawyer, or if she will fight any attempt by Britney or that lawyer to terminate the conservatorship entirely.
The paperwork must be filed by Britney asking for the termination before a judge can approve it.

In a court filing on Wednesday that was obtained by DailyMail.com, Lynne Spears asks Judge Brenda Penny to 'listen to the wishes of her daughter'. The pair are shown in 2000
Ingham, her old lawyer, never filed it. He is yet to publicly explain why but sources cited by TMZ on Tuesday said he was blindsided by Britney's court comments.
Britney's mother Lynne also filed court papers on Tuesday asking for the judge to allow Britney to appoint her own attorney.
She said it was clear Britney is 'able' to take care of herself and 'has been able to for years'.
'It is beyond dispute that this is a unique conservatorship. In the original petition for appointment, her given address was the UCLA Medical Center.
'That was over 13 years ago.
'Now and for the past many years, she is able to care for her person and in fact has, inside the parameters of this conservatorship, earned literally hundreds of millions of dollars as an international celerity.
'She should no longer be held to the same standard,' Lynne's attorney wrote.
On June 23, 2021 in very courageous showing, Conservatee [Britney] appeared by phone and spoke for almost twenty—five minutes, baring her heart to the Court in an impassioned plea to be heard on several requests.
'Petitioner Lynne Spears, interested party and mother of the Conservatee, hereby petitions this Court to listen to the wishes of her daughter, and as first step, respectfully requests an Order granting permission to the Conservatee to hire her own private legal counsel.'
The next court hearing is on July 14.
