Tencent Games launches Midnight Patrol to keep kids off games at night

China's Tencent Games launched a time-sensitive facial recognition system called "Midnight Patrol" that's meant to curb excessive play time among children and teenagers, according to online publication Sixth Tone, citing the company. Starting from 6 July, the gaming platform's facial verification system will help monitor players and detect individuals who spend too much time online at night. The initiative is aimed at deterring minors from using "tricks" to pose as adults between 10 pm and 8 am.
