Nasdaq, S&P 500 eke out record finish as stocks end slightly higher

Stocks ended slightly higher Wednesday, with the Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500 edging up to record finishes after minutes of the Federal Reserve's June meeting showed policy makers dived into the debate over when to begin discussing tapering but offered no sign action was imminent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.30% rose around 104 points, or 0.3%, to finish near 34,681.79, according to preliminary figures. The S&P 500 advanced around 15 points, or 0.3%, to end near 4,358, while the Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.01% eked out a gain of a little over 1 point to close near 14,665.
