Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Police have detained nearly a dozen Youth Congress workers, who tried to show black flags to Chief Minster Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Jabalpur on Wednesday.
Chouhan is in Jabalpur to attend 75th annual function of Government Engineering College.
According to information, Youth Congress workers were marching towards Jabalpur Engineering College, carrying black flags in their hands. They were stopped near Vehicle Square Panehra by police. The police had to resort to lathi-charge to disperse them. The police also detained a dozen workers who were taken to DRP Lines.
Talking to journalists, district Youth Congress president Nitin Raj said law and order situation in the city had been completely off track and police officers were only spectators. “People are dying because of Covid-19 but the government is busy in celebrations. Prices of petrol and diesel are touching the sky and government is doing nothing. Therefore, we decided to show him black flags,” he said.
