'I'm happy to say I was incompetent': Sam Newman crashes his boat into another vessel while trying to reverse it with a remote control
Sam Newman was involved in a boating accident on Monday.
The AFL great revealed the nautical mishap occurred when he tried to reverse his boat Sea Sea Rider using a remote control, which resulted in the vessel lurching forward and colliding with another craft and a wharf.
'I'm happy to say I'm simple and I was incompetent,' the 75-year-old told his co-hosts Don Scott and Rod Law on his podcast You Cannot Be Serious on Tuesday.

Sam went on to explain the turn of events which resulted in the collision.
'When you turn the remote device around in your hand it then reverses what you think is going forward and what you think is going back,' he explained.
Sam added that he put the boat halfway into a space when he thought to reverse the vessel.
'And then what I did was push it forward and it sped into the wharf and into someone else's boat,' he said.

Yikes: 'I thought to myself, how dumb and stupid and incompetent and senile are you, that you couldn't work that out,' he recalled
He continued: 'It put a hole in the boat and the wharf and the fenders.'
Sam told his co-hosts that he was so annoyed that he couldn't say anything or respond to the situation.

The TV and radio personality admitted that his boat was now 'rooted', while elsewhere his co-hosts joked about starting a Go Fund Me page for Sam's boat.
