Gurgaon: More complaints poured in on Tuesday about violation of norms by a Sector 56 private clinic, a day after TOI reported about a pre-filled syringe being used at the facility for Covid-19 vaccination.
On Monday, a resident had complained to the health department that he and his wife had been injected with a syringe that was already filled by their vaccinator at the clinic and had not been shown the vial. Two more recipients came forward on Tuesday and submitted similar written complaints against Muskan Dental Clinic, which had refuted the allegations.
The first complainant, who had accompanied her domestic helper for a paid first dose of Covishield, said the nurse at the clinic came out with a filled syringe and gave the jab. Their objections were brushed aside by the vaccinator. “I knew the protocol as there had been transparency during my jabs at government centres. I felt cheated but couldn’t do much about it. I did alert the people in the waiting area though,” said the complainant.
The second complainant, Amit Pruthi, said he went to the clinic last week for his second dose and observed that the nurse did not inject the vaccine. Instead, she just pricked the needle into his arm and then moved away immediately, he said. The syringe was not even disposed of, he added.
Pruthi said it was possible the staff was pricking people, keeping syringes unused in the ice box and then later using it on others. “I don’t know if I am vaccinated or not. I am sure there are people being given the doses in the wrong manner,” he said.
Gurgaon CMO Virender Yadav said a team will be set up to probe the matter.
