Forty three leaders are expected to be sworn in as the Modi administration plans a cabinet expansion, according to ANI.

India's Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has resigned from the cabinet, ahead of an anticipated reshuffle, according to ANI.

This comes after a deadly second wave of Covid-19 swept the country leading to mass deaths and a collapse of its healthcare system.

Ahead of the expected Cabinet expansion on Wednesday evening, a number of leaders, many of whom are likely to be inducted as ministers, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence, according to news agency ANI.
